Bayonne, To-day. “Unconditional surrender or merciless war,' is the gist of a Note broadcast from Salamanca, in which any possibility of a truce in the Spanish war is summarily dismissed in most energetic terms.
A communique issued in Salamanca yesterday claims that according to Government sources, ten bombs hit the battleship Jaime Primero at Valen- cia yesterday.
The battleship was set on fire and will be out of action for some time.
The Basque delegation at Bayonne stated yesterday that an unofficial commission of three British experts has arrived at Guernica and has investigated the alleged bombing of the town. The commission, it is stated, has telegraphed their deposition to Senor del Vayo, the Republican ment representative, at Geneva.
