London, April 26. Imperfect though royal, the Vic- toria and Albert has never been considered a really seaworthy: ship. Now she is to go to the ship- breakers: Her career is likely to end some time next year, probably after the Coronation Naval Review which will be held in May 1937 if King Edward follows precedent.
The Victoria and Albert was built for Queen Victoria, and was launched in 1899 by Queen Mary, then Duchess of York. Eight months after the launching, while she was being completed in dock, she heeled over suddenly and lay at an angle of 20 degrees. It was found that serious error had been made in the calculations weight and stability.

Three of the visiting yachts are being specially built for t race, while eight of the American entries, which now numb eighteen, will be new. The event is expected to find a reco number of between 40 and 50 yachts at the starting line.
This year the race will start from Newport, Rhode Island, i stead of New London, Connecticut, as previously, and the star ing line will be at the Brenton's Reef lightship where the Amer ca's Cup yachts started their tussles in 1934.
