Geneva, To-day.

The co-ordinating sub-committee has unani- mously decided to lift the embargo on arms and munitions in favour of Abyssinia, but to apply the embargo to Italy. Hungary abstained from voting.

When it meets to-day the financial sub-committee will recom mend banning all financial accommodation to Italy.

The co-ordinating committee has established a sub-com- mittee composed of British, French, Greek, Dutch, South African. Rumanian and Polish delegates to deal with financial questions and to tighten up any question of loans to Italy.

Another sub-committee, consisting of Britain, France, Rus- sia and Spain will examine the question of armaments and key products.

On the suggestion of Mr., that the Assembly will adjourn Eden it was unanimously agreed and not dissolve so that it may be that the arms embargo should called upon at short notice in include any contract already in case of an emergency, especially since the majority of the members operation

CONSOLIDATION ON NORTHERN FRONT

OFFENSIVE STATIONARY ON SOMALI FRONT REPORTED CAPTURE OF UAL UAL

Rome, To-day.

The news of the desertion of two Abyssinian chieftains has been received with great satisfac- tion in Rome and is regarded as the first-fruit of the Italian policy to win over sections of the popu- lation to the Italian side as the Italian advance proceeds: The streams of desertion to the Ita- lians

are expected to increase.

Simultaneously with the military operations political officers will begin to try to persuade the Abyssinians of the advantage of Italian rule.

News from East Africa indicates that the

Italian troops are consolidating their lines of communications on the northern front, where an- other advance will not be made for a fortnight.

The offensive appears to be stationary on the Somali front, where the Italians are on the defensive, while there is no news from the southern Eritrean front, where the Italian cohmn which occupied Mount Monssa Ali is proceeding in the direction of the Djibouti-Addis Ababa Railway.
