Lower Court proceedings against three Chinese, Chan Shing-ahun, Ng King and Li Chung, were.com-
menced beforo Mr. W. Schofield at the Central Police, Court yesterday afternoon.
The defendants were all charged with having on December 23, 1984. and March 27, 1935, counselled, procured or commanded Wong, Tai, and Li Chan to wound or CRUAC grievous bodily harm to Yu Sze- mul, concubine of the first defen dant, with intent to maim, disfigure, or disable her. The second and third defendants were also charg ed with having on March 27 at Wanchai wounded or caused griev ous bodily harm to the com- plainant, with others not jo

Mr.-J. A. Fraser, Ausistant At- torney General, appeared for the Crown, and Mfr. P. H. Sin appeared for Chan Shing-shun and Ng King.
At the outset of the proceedings, Mr. Fraser made. an application withdrawing the charges against the third defendant. In doing so he said that there was no question of any pardon being granted, but it was simply because the third de- fendant would give the evidence of an accomplice.
The third defendant cordingly discharged.

After hearing the evidence of three 'Crown witnesses Mr. Scho-' field adjourned the proceedings until this afternoon. Mr. Fraser intimated that there were 14 more witnesses for the Crown.
