Oil Treatment
As soon as the holiday season la over all equipment for bathing, walking, camping, and so on should be carefully overhauled and stored away so that it will be in good order when next required.
Woollen bathing costumes which have been used in, salt water should be soaked for an hour or more in lukewarm fresh water be fore they are dried and put away, Rubber, beach-bags and bathing-caps may be kept supple if they are washed In warm soapy water, slowly dried away from heat, well sprinkled with French. chalk, and loosely packed in a cardboard box. Strong shoes and boots should be treated with an olly dressing to keep the leather soft and either placed on trees or tightly packed with balls of paper.
In this way all creases are softened and smoothed out and the shoes are kept in shape.

Flenle cases should be brushed out to ensure that no crumbs are left in them. Vacuum flasks should be left uncorked when not in use. Their corka should be scalded, dried, and wrapped in clean paper. Can- vas equipment, such tents, groundsheets, and so on, must be thoroughly dried before it is folded or rolled up for storing. It is ad- vianble to label all rolls and pack- ages, so that they may be identified at once without being opened or un- folded.
