Industrials and rails were up .96 and 54 to 98.78 and 45.23, res-| pectively, while utilities and bonds [advanced .30 and .06 to 24.20 and 94.64. The commodity index im- proved .81 to 58.35.
The silver market ruled quiet, but steady.
In their market report, Messrs. White, Weld and Company, through their local correspondents, Mesars. S.. E. Levy and Co, state:----
"Stocks:-Our opinion of the market is unchanged.
"Cotton-Market strong on un- favourable weather. Should this continue, we expect cotton prices: to move considerably higher.
"Rubber:-There was a strong trend on heavy speculative and {trade buying in the course of the
day. Another factor contributing · to the strength was the uncovering of one large short-interest. We continue to recommend purchased on minor reactions.
"Wheat:-Prices are steady. "Corn:-We recommend pur- chases on reactions. For a good move,
recommend we also
the switching of wheat to corn, as the fear of chinch bugs and the pros- pective Increase in the demand for corn owing to the acute feed situa- tion will help the move.
"Rye: The prospects. for this crop are poor and purchases are advisable.
