ECLIPSED

MR. DEITZ FAILS TO

RIDE A WINNER

NOVICE JOCKEY'S TWO FIRSTS

THE biggest upset in yesterday's racing was the unexpected eclipse of Mr. Li Shiu Pang's Soldier of Britain, who, with Mr. Norman Deitz up, was considered to be the safest of the day. The Soldier looked very fit going out, but finished a very poor third after setting too fast a pace in the Whitsun Plate over 1 miles. Mr. Gilbert Harriman rode well to bring Mr. F. M. L. Soares's Sadko in first,

Mr. Holenside's. Helter Skelter (Mr. Black) finished third by 'a' neck to pay $24.40.

Chesterfield (Mr. Carroll), fol- lowed by Morning Sun (Mr. da Roza), No Fear and Helter Skelter, attempted a run away win, but was unable to retain his advantage after the half-way stage, when the winners took up their position for the final order.
