MR. HEARD ON PARTNERSHIP
(By RAPIER)
THOUGH the "double" paid out only $36.60 at the last Meeting there is every reason to believe that it will be back again into three figures this Saturday. The first leg, with Brechin, Royal Flush and Alexandra Hall as the only leading ponies, should be easy to select, but the second leg is a good deal harder with Partnership, Vigilance, Burgomas- ter, and The Goat all in perfect condition.
AFTER a careful study of the ponies during their trackwork
this week I am inclined to think that Brechin and Part- nership will prove the best combination.
THERE will be one or two very interesting changes of
jockeys made on Saturday, I understand that Mr. E. 0. Butler will be taking out Night Star, the champion Austra lian, instead of Mr. S. N. Pan, who may not ride at all owing to indisposition. Mr. "Johnnie" Heard will be seen out on Partnership instead of Mr. Liang, while Mr. "Daffy" Davis will be up on City of Brisbane for the first time. Mr. Davis will also take out Valorous as Mr. Heard is riding Daylight Eve. THITE BUTTERFLY has B

RATION'S CHALLENGE
(By "THE SPIDER")
THERE are occasions in
local racing when all the riding honours fall to one jockey, and. looking over the card for Saturday, It would seem that our veteran rider, Mr. "Johnnie” Heard, will have a very good day.
Trentbridge is a cast-iron cer- tainty, while Portia in a short sprint is as good as anything that has been entered. King Salmon moved very well the last time he was raced, and his re- cent training performances have caused him to be looked upon as ja potential winner.

there is no reason
and for thinking
why he should not win, the more so since he is getting a conces- sion of fifteen pounds from the top-weights.

of the merits Valorous, one need hardly say that this pony over a middle distance event stands a sterling chance. Mr. Heard, however, was yesterday seen to take out Daylight Eve. and he may take this pony to the post.
