AMY JOHNSON
READY TO TRY RETURN RECORD
Race Back Depends On Weather Reports.
KING'S CONGRATULATIONS.
Capetown, To-day. Amy Johnson, Mrs. J. A. Mollison. in real life, has tele- graphed to Governor-General Clarendon expressing the deep- est thanks for the King's mes- sage of congratulation on her. flight to Capetown from Eng- land, in which she broke her husband's record. It will be one of her most treasured posses sions, she said.
Amy declared that if the weather reports were favourable) and the engineers were satisfied with her machine, she would cer tainly attempt a record flight to London: Otherwise, she would sail for Englind on November 25, she declared.
The remarkable flight to the Cape from England, accom- plished in record-breaking time despite an accident on the way, makes it seem likely that the re turn trip might easily give Misa Johnson another record.

London, To-day."
A scheme aiming at the rehabilitation of the rubber trade, has been evolved by Mr. J. A. Hyner, chief plan- tation manager for the Hessa Rubber Company of Amster ~dam,
one of the leading companies operating in Sumatra.
According to the Financial Times, the plan provides for the destruction of the surplus rubber trees, for which com- pensation would be paid. Supervision to ensure no fur- ther planting would be done and conversion of parts of estates to the growing of other products would be undertaken.
It is suggested the Govern- ment guarantee the interest and sinking fund needed to finance the scheme. Funds should be raised by levying an export tax on rubber. Reuter.
