THE CHINA MAIL
TANKER SINKS SAIL VESSEL.
Collision In Straits Reported.
Singapore, Aug. 7
A small coasting vessel named the Asp. was in collision off Batu Pahat recently with a Norwegian oil tanker, the Soll. The nine mem- bers of the crew were saved, but the vessel foundered. The colli sion is understood to have occurred when the Asp was proceeding from Pulau Sabarok (an Island near Singapore) to Port Swettenham.

The Asp, was a sailing ship owned by Norwegian owners. She was built in 1892 by Mistern te Velde, Hoogezand, and was, registered at Xiansand. Her overall length is 96 feet and her beam 19 feet.
