The companies not participating in the three combines are some Tyr- renian companies of a limited local importance and the Navigazione Libera Trlestina, the Navigazione Alta Italia, the Navigazione Odero, the Societa Veneziana di Naviga- zione a Vapore and the Adria, of Fiume. It is considered, however, that a combine will not be impos- sible between the Libera, the Alta Italia and Odero, in order to meet the international competition in the traffic with the Mexican Gulf.
The recent visit of the manager of the Libera, Captain Mario Tad- dei, to the principal ports inc) - ed in the schedule of the company's services has increased this possibi 23rd May lity. Expert opinion considers that the services to the Mexican Gulf should be reserved to the Alta Italia and the Odero, leaving the Libera to improve the services for cargo and passengers to San Fran- cisco and the North Pacific coast. This matter has not, however, yet been under consideration by the Government and the companies concerned.
