A WHOLE WEEK'S NEWSPAPERS IN ONE.
Detailed reports of latest developments in the Shang- hai "war" are recorded in the OVERLAND CHINA MAIL,

In her report of the past year's work at the Ladies' Committee's annual meeting of the Cheer O Club, Mrs. L. C. F. Bellamy made reference to the fact that the Club had now no home, The Club was a necessity for Service men and should be a permanent institution. Mr. P. S. Cassidy, Chairman of the Directors of the Y.M.C.A., crl- ticised the decision that the Cheer-O Club must vacate their premises in the City Hall. ; A full report of the meeting is chronicled in the OVERLAND CHINA MAIL.
At the annual meeting of the Benevolent Society held on March 4, Mrs. W. T. Southors, wife of the Colonial Secretary, paid warm tributes to the untiring efforts of the Society. She declared that "more beef and mustard” was needed from a generous public. The meeting is reported in the OVERLAND CHINA MAIL:
A final dividend of six per cent, was declared at the seventh ordinary yearly meeting of the Hong Kong Tele- phone Company, Lid, held on March 9, under the chair- manship of the Hon. Mr. C, Gordon Mackie., Referring to the Hong Kong-Canton trunk telephone service, the chairman said that although it had been in operation. for several months, the traffic receipts were good, and he was confident that the project's success was assured. The OVERLAND CHINA MAIL furnishes a report of the meeting.
A nasty spill which occurred in the sixth race, marred the First Extra Race Meeting held at Happy Valley on March 5.
There was a field of 17 starters. Mr. T. Y Tang, riding Vim, was seen to fall whilst bunched up. Mr. Corbett, who was behind on Somerset, could not avoid the fallen mount and was thrown violently. Both riders were picked up in an unconscious condition and later removed to the French Convent Hospital in an ambulance of
The conditions were ideal for a good day's sport, being a direct contrast to the prevailing weather on the last day of the Annual Meeting, and, as was only to be expected, times were good, one record being broken.
