In congratulating the officers of the club for the very successful year's work the chairman said that he doubted whether any, club had presented during the past year a report and statement of accounts as admirable as that of the V.R.C. Progress had been made in almost every direction, except, he thought, In the gymnasium, and they had finished with a balance on the right side there being a balance of $4,142.96 of which they had every reason to be proud.
Continuing, the chairman said that he thought it was the appro- priate moment to propose a hearty vote of thanks and congratulation

Mr. R. M. Rocha suggested that the committee consider the reduc- tion of the monthly subscription from $3 to $2, but it was pointed out that the time was not ора portune.
Mr. Rocha Ister brought up the question of the award of the prizes for last year's championships. He remarked that, he had seen a cer- tain amount of comment. In the Press regarding the matter and asked for the official view.
Mr. Logan remarked that it was! a very long story. Two years ago

The AB- sociation were morally responsible! for the prizes, but the V.R.C. found they would have to secure prizea for the successful competitors. The Hong Kong Amateur Swim- ming Association, continued Mr. Logan, might have to close down.
