SOUTH CHINA WIN

DECISIVELY.

Lee Wai-tong Shines in Manila Game.

SIX GOALS SCORED.

Manila, Feb. 5. . The South China football play- ers continued their winning streak in their Carnival tour of Manila when they vanquished the Univer- sity of Sto. Tomas eleven by six goals to nil yesterday afternoon it Wallace Field.

The game, in spite of the one alded score, was hard fought with the locals fighting gamely in an effort to stem the tide of defeat.

Despite the absence of Wong Mee-shun, the centre half back, who made a hurried trip home due to his mother's death, the South China outfit put up a very fine show, and displayed flashes of brilliant football. Lee Wai-tong took the place left vacant by Wong.

The Chinese opened up with a rush and through some clever and beautiful footwork. were able to carry the play to the enemy zone. The Sto. Tomas U. full backs got Into swift motion, and after a hot skirmish, they prevented the Chin- ese from breaking down the de- fence, with play being carried to the other end of the field. After that both teams indulged in some 'real hard kicking, the Chinese out- playing their opponents in com- bination work, and occasionally out-dribbling their opponents, manoeuvering the ball into posi. tion for a try at the net

Repeated invasions resulted in the Chinese scoring when Suon Kam-shun, the centre forward, secured possession. Lee, coming down the centre of the field, pass- ed the ball to Soon who converted the pass to place the Chinese two up. Spurred by their success, the Chinese

played In whirlwind fashion and again carrying the ball into the enemy danger zone. Cheng scored the third goal.

US OF FRANCE.

The Daily Express understands that the serious financial dif culties of a number of famous English and Scottish Association football clubs have caused to be made one of the most extraordin- ary proposals that professional sport has ever known.

It is that professional Soccer football should be launched in France, and that two First Divi- alon English clubs, and one Scot- tish club should be transferred to France to form the nucleus of a new League.

cer

At the moment professional Soc- football is not played in France, but the belief has gained ground that the crisis, which has overtaken the game in, England, and to a somewhat lesser degree in Scotland, is of such a charac- ter that certain celebrated clubs are bound to die in the future.

near

The feeling is that these clubs, who are now fighting an uphill battle the attendances at matches in each case having dwindled in a remarkable fashion-would prefer removal to France than dropping out of existence altogether.

Except for clubs like the Ar- senal, Aston Villa, Chelsea, and a few others, the financial position of Soccer is to-day an unhappy one, and it has been an open secret for months that the three clubs now stated to be concerned with the negotiations for a change of locality scarcely know where to turn for money to keep things go-
