CLOSE TEAM RACE.
The Hong Kong Amateur Swim ning Association held its third in- lerport trial at the Victoria Re- creation Club on Saturday, and fine sport was provided. The at- tendance was not so large as on previous occasions, no doubt due to counter attractions.
The most interesting. event on the programme was the men's 220 yards race, Leung Sui-man did not turn out for this event which was fought out between W. Lawrence, S. V. Gitting and L. Roza-Pereira, It was a close race throughout with only a matter of inches separating the swimmers. The finish was a thrilling "any man's affair" which just went to Lawrence by a touch with Gittins and Roza-Pereira mak- 'ing a dead hent for second place. The team race between the In- terport team and the Rest was also an exciting affair with the Rest actually leading at the start and eventually losing to the Inter porters by the narrow margin of 3/5 of a second. The ladies' team race also provided much excitement and was a ding-dong struggle right up to the finish, when Mrs. J. Mac- Mahon just managed to beat Miss M. George and secured the honours || for her side.
In a water polo match "Interport Side v. The Rest," the Interporters won in convincing fashion by alx goals to one, after lending 8-1 in the first half, The goal scorers were: Interporters W., Lawrence 3. C. Roza-Pereira 2, and S, V. Gittins 1; The Rest-L. Roza- Pereira 1.
