The first of a series of friend- ly encounters, on the Police R.C. on Sunday afternoons wAy green played yesterday when two rinks' of the Police were opposed to, two rinks of the Civil Service C.C. The Police tied on one rink and lost on the other by the narrow margin of three shots.

Playing in the first round of the Open Singles Lawn Bowls Cham- planship on the Club de Recrolo green yesterday, R. F. Luz was de- feated by A. E. Silkstone, of the Kowloon C.C.. by 18 shots.

Luz was hopelessly outplayed and provided "easy meat" for Silkstone, who is favoured in some circles for this year's champion- ship.
