The funeral of Mr. W. A. Hannibal, whose death was report-: yesterday, took place at the Pro- testant Cemetery, Happy Valley, last evening.

Many interesting and astonished ng facts about noise were reveal- ed by Dr. G. W. C. Kaye, Super- intendent of the Physics Depart ment, National Physical, Labora

Explaining that noise was men- sured by the "decibel" and that the complete range of auditory loudness, from the softest whisper to a sound so loud that it pains the ear, was covered by about 130 decibels, Dr. Kaye declared that: A lion roars as loudly as the Niagara Falls (85 decibels) and both are louder than a tube train (80 decibels).

Injury to Health. Dealing with the effect of noine on health, Dr. Kaye said that, while most individuals, particular- ly the hale and hearty, can accus- tom themselves to living or work- ing in a noisy environment, there can be little doubt that, in general, noise has a harmful effect, even on those who are to all appearances Immune.
