Theatre:

comedy extravaganza produced by Columbia Pictures Corporation, dazzled the audience at the Central Theatre where it opened, yesterday. It is sparkling entertainment done in Broadway's best style. A galaxy of stars including the versatile Jack Egan, the vivacious Sally O'Neil and the striking Carmel Myere, who play the leading roles, disport them- selves with glory.

See, hear and thrill to this all-talking, singing, dancing carnival of life behind the footlight-it is excellent film farce.

"Broadway Scandals" proves that it is possible to incorporate a good story in a musical production. The practice heretofore has been to at- tach music to the thinnest skeleton Monday-At P.W.D. Miss Bennett and Mr. Ayres are both brilliant in this picture and the exceptional cast is headed by Tully Marshall, Matty Kemp and Beryl Mercer. All of them give re- markable performances. "Common Clay" may be recommended as one of the finest achievements of the year.

“MEN ON CALL”

"Down to the sea' in shilpa" is a phrase that always brings to mind the inherent call of the sea; but Men On Call" is a phrase describ Ing accurately the guardians of the ses and its shipping the heroes of the U.S. Coast Guard.

Theirs is a service devoted entire- ly to the cause of humanity. As auch, it forms fitting, material for "Men On Call," the Fox movietone dramatisation of the lives of Coast Guardsmen which is brought to the audible screen at the King's Theatre for the last time to-day, with Edmund Lowe, ne Clarke and William Harrigan in the featured roles.

Directed by John G. Blystone, who megaphoned "So This Is London," the story of "Men"On Call" deals with a member of the Coast Guard who joined the service to escapol from a misunderstanding in love. He is hefriended by the captain of the Coast Guard station to which he is detailed, and their friendship grows throughout the term of his enlistment.

Drama enters the situation when the girl in the case reappears and tries to reopen the love affaif that ceeds in waking love in the captain's had once existed, but she only suc
