He was promoted to com- mander in June, 1918, and was selected for duty as assistant to the Director of Naval Ordinance. Captain Wilton had authority to wear the insignia of Officer of the Belgian Order of the Crown, and that of an officer of the Russian Orders of St. Stanislas, 2nd class, with swords, both of which were conferred upon him in 1917 in re- cognition of his work during the War.
