The Club's failure to clinch 1. D. Evans, e Gan, b Andorzon matters after getting definitely L. B. Holmos, e Ride, b Anderson the upper hand in the Army's second innings, and then their own remarkable collapse, were sensational features of the play. J. A member of a Second Division team, Sig. Williams (R.C.S.) made a name for himself by his splen- did bowling for the Army. Taki ing an unusually long run up to; the crease, he is really not as fast i as he looks but there is a lot of Numanbhoy "devil" in his deliveries.
The League had an entirely Andersen blank day, the holidays probably adding to the "maskee" spirit which is already so much in evid- 'ence.

UNIVERSITY DEFEAT THE VOLUNTEERS.
CLOSE FINISH IN TWO INNINGS MATCH,
Pinying at King's Park yesterday the Volunteers lost to the University by three wickets,
three. men Commencing the game short the Volunteers received a good start from Mackay and Gittins, and were reinforced in time to complete the whole innings. With the dis- missal of Gittins the Volunteers were in a desperato plight, only a short stand between Mackay and Griffiths offering any resistance to the bowling of D. J. N. Anderson (8 for 10). Mackay played a really good knock for hir 31 and was largely respon- sible for his alde's total of 60,
The University lost wickets quick- ly at the commencement of their inn- 20ings but thanks to Anderson (34)
and Barma (24) managed to total 108 runs.
Being 48 runs in arrears on "the first innings the Volunteers batted in amore, convincing manner second venture.
