more leisure for us all.
Scientific research has been the pacemaker of this faster, yet more leisurely, existence. At a steadily increasing rate it is giving us hundreds of inventions and improvements which speed up work, save time and money, revolutionize life and labour in the modern age.
Conceive how much time modern lubrication has saved the world's civilized population not to mention the millions of money in unnecessary repairs and renewals saved by the repeatedly improved efficiency of Gargoyle Mobilo!). Both these benefits owe much to the steady flow of discovery from the Vacuum Oil Company's laboratories.
The Gargoyle is a symbol of research. Every brand of lubricating oil bearing this trade mark represents to-day, and will represent to-morrow, the highest standard of scientific correctness and dependability.
If you happen to be one of those who believe “oll is ofl" and that anything called "oil" will economically and efficiently lubricate your motorcar engine, give the Scientifically Correct grade of Gargoyle Mobiloil a chance to prove to you that you are dead wrong, A trial will surprise you, as it has many hundreds of thousands of motorcar owners.

Non-Stop Trip of a Ford Manoeuvring in Tight
*Plane.
Aviation history was made re- cently when a crew of four Army airmen, commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Jacob E. Fickel, executive officer of the Air Corps Material Division at Wright Field, Dayton, Ohio, landed at France Field, Canal Zone, after a non-stop flight! in a Ford tri-motor transport plane from Miami across the blue wastes of the Caribbean. The plane with Its heavy gasoline load covered with 1,140 mile jump in 11 hours, 20 minutes.
To military men, the flight was of great tactical interest as it de- monstrated the practicability of direct air contact between contin- ental United States and Panama without the necessity of crossing any country but Cuba. From a military atandpoint that is con- aldered important as Central Amer- Ican countries have been averse to permitting American military planes to fly over their territories.
of greater interest, perhaps, was the fact that the big Ford plane still had 200 gallons of fuel in its tanks when it was landed at France Field. The weight of this amount of gasoline is greater than the weight of a great demolition bomb, proving that the Ford transport could have carried such a missile to its objective.

Places.
A marked Increase in the use of light trucks in combination with trailers and semi-trailers is being reflected in the sales of Model AA truck chasses, according to officials of the Ford Motor Company. This is particularly true, they say, among large 'fleet owners.
Economy of operation, ability to manoeuvro in tight places and time 'saved by disconnecting the trailer unit while it is being loaded or un- loaded are factors influencing the new trend in commercial trans- portation.
By using a semi-trailer on a light truck chassis, the major portion of the load can be balanced over the trailer axle with only enough weight| over the rear axle of the truck to give good traction. Consequently, by taking advantage of the draw- bar pull of the truck, three or four tons can be hauled easily by a one- and-one-half ton chassis.
Trailers and semi-trailers can be arranged to meet a wide range of transportation requirements. For heavy loads dual wheels can be used on a semi-trailer unit and the rear of the truck. When time consumed In loading and unloading is an im- portant factor two or more trailers or semi-trailers can be used in the operation of each truck, and, while one unit is being loaded, the truck can proceed with another. Thus one chassis, with the extra equip.) ment; can perform the work of two or three trucks.

Lieutenant Albert F. In the large scale, manufacture of the Ford car, it is important that parts be made to very fine degrees of accuracy, since this obviates the necessity of adjustments in the pro- cess of assembly and assures the maximum of transportation service.
