This is Miss Carstair's last big water adventure. As she sat in the stern of Estelle IV., peering through a forest of stack pipes rising from two 300 h.p. engines, she explained rather sadly that her hobby was costing too much. Her attempts to win back covet- ed records from the United States of America in British boats must have cost her already more than £100,000. And about £25,000 worth of motor-boats were stored in the little shipyard...
She is all the more determined, in view of her retirement, to make one great final bid for the world's record and the trophy, and I imagine that Sir Henry is go- ing to have a worthy rival.
