LABOUR WORLD.
The Secretary for Chinese Affairs in his report on his depart- ment for last year says that the ravenue derived from all sources during the year was $16,828.36 and the expenditure was $93,140.47.
Under the Offences against the Person Ordinance No. 13 of 1929 the sale or purchase of a minor child is now a criminal offence. As a result of investigations by police officers of the department two per- sons were charged and convicted of taking part in the sale of a child. Provious to the passing of this ordinance, proceedings under the Deportation Ordinanca wera
taken against a number of persons
suspected of being engaged in the Traffic in Children and 23 males and á females were after onquiry banished for life from the Colony.

The number of marriages cele- brated in the Colony, during the year 1929, was 225, of which 94 were between Chinese persons, as compared with 236 and 105, respec- tively in 1928, a decrease of 11, according to the annual report of the Registrar of Marriages.
