TESTS SATISFACTORY
In order to demonstrate the. carrying capacity of the Scher- ly platol rocket apparatus, & special series of tests were car- ried out at the company's works, Om- Worcester Park, Surrey.
cials representing the Board of Trade, and others interested in the question of safety of life at sea, were present, and put the ap- paratus to severe practical tests. Captain Schermuly, the managing director of the company, personal- ty conducted the tests, all of which, as will be seen from the following results substantiated the claims made on behalf of the Schermuly pistol,
The first test with an inch and a half line scored fifty yarde. The second, with an inch line, scored 75 yards; the third, with A three-quarter inch line, scored 85 yards, and with a half-inch These line scored 135 yards. scores were secured with the com- pany's standard pistol.
Tests were also made with an
improved design which has been specially evolved for coastguard
use.
