OUR FLYING PRINCE Takes Part in Long- Distance Test

Rugby, Yesterday. The Prince of Wales took part in one of the final test fights of the huge Fairey-Napier long range aeroplane, in which two R.A.F. officers, Squadron-Leader Jones Williams, and Flying-Oficer Jen- kine, are to attempt this month to create a new long distance record.

The Prince made a flight of aome hours, and for a time took over the controls, it being the first occasion he had piloted a machine of this Bize. The monoplane, which yes- terday was flown to the aerodrome at Cranwell, from Northolt, will fly in a straig line to South Africa, 0,000 miles distant, and it is hoped that the present world non-stop flight record of 4,000 miles will be broken.

The machine will carry more fuel than on its non-stop flight to India) laat spring, and will this time be) equipped with a special compact wireless set, which will enable the airmen to keep in contact and re- cord the progress of the flight. The machine's aneroid will be equipped with a contrivance which gives audible warning when it descends below a certain level.

Herbert Morrison, Transport Minister, referred this week, for public ownership and co-ordination on Lon- don's passenger traffic.

Although Mr. Morrison intentionally refrained from giving details. It is understood that the closest existing model, for the scheme he has in mind is the Central Electricity Board, which the previous Government established, and which is a national and publicly owned undertaking controlled by an officially appointed body and ran as: a business concern.
