The new crop of Irish is now being harvested. A few small samples have been scutched and promise well both as to strength and quality.
There is very little change to report In Courtrai. Suppiles are still small and all fibre marketed has been bought up at unchanged prices, except for the lower sorts which are dearer.
The Government has now concluded some business in their stock of old and row crop flazes, but the consuming markets maintain their policy of only buying against actual requirements. The Flax Department is losing heavily at these obtainable rates, but the price to the peasant has now been reduced more into Recordance with present day values. The new crop continues to-make-satisfactory progress, and the yield of good flax to make up for last growers are looking forward to a big 18,278,000.00 season's bad record.
