Film Magnate Better

This new and interesting portrait

shows His Excellency, Henning

Elmquist, Governor of Stockholm,

Sweden, as he appeared in dress

niform betting his office.

Outthrilling the wildest fiction is the story of Catherine Craw- ford, right, restored to the arms of her mother after her unflinching arrative of how her quivering fingers pressed the trigger of the revolver with which she killed her father, George H.. Crawford, left, in their Keyport, N. J., home, above. According to her story, the father had ordered her to his room and, after locking the door, his actions frightened her. She grabbed the pistol she saw the dresser, thinking to stop him, but as he advanced she fired. After hearing her story Prosecutor Quina indicated he would not ask for an indictment.

The new radio beacon installed at Mitchell Field, N.Y., which guides aeroplanes from Washing- ton, is rated the most practical signalling method yet devised. Three radio notes are sent through the apparatus, left, where Lt. Walter B. Hough, radio chief, is shown; tuning the goniometer, or follows: One when radio beacon. These notes radiating from the tower, right, are arranged

the plane is at the left of the course; one when it is on the right of the course; and still another when the plane is directly on the course. The radio beacon has a range of 200 miles (about the distance between Washington and Mitchell Field) during the day, and range of 800 miles at night. During night fights or in the day when visibility is poor the signals are invaluable to airmen. The pilot, centre, in cockpit with radio helmet adjusted, picks them up by the antenna hanging through bottom of ship.
