The Japan Society in London, which for over 30 years has been a social meeting ground for Bri- tish and Japanese, has offered to the Imperial University of Tokyo a gold medal, struck at the Royal Mint, to be awarded annually to the student who submits the best essay on some subject connected with the study of the English language or literature.
