THE CHINA MAIL,
At the Central Magistracy yes- terday, Mr. R. E. Lindsell heard a case arising out of an..... Incident which occurred on June 8 at the Yaumati Ferry wharf, in which Chinese Police Reserviat, a Chinese police searcher and a Chinese woman searcher were involved.
The case before the Magistrate" was a summons brought by the Reservist, alleging hesault against the searchers. -
Mr. P. M. Hodgson represented complainant.
Ngan Chi-on, the complainant, said he was manager of the Chun Fong Bank, of,16, Des Vœux-road West. On the 8th Instant, he was going to Yaumati, and on arriving at the Ferry Wharf, on the central waterfront, with his wife, he bought their fares, and was about to follow her into the enclosure when he was stopped by the first defendant, who was acting as a searcher, and was told to put up his hands. Upon his saying that he was a member of the Police
