In "Excelsior" (March 21), M. Leon Vallas declares that it would be desirable to publish a facsimile of the autograph manuscript, 80 that all may know exactly how much of the forthcoming orches- tral version (carried out by M.-F. Gaillard) was actually thought out by Debussy.

Alexia De Castillon. In the March "Tablettes de la 'Schola," Pierre de Breville writes in praise of Castillon's unjustly rieglected music:---

Hie Paalm 84, his concertos, his fugues, his Violin Sonata, his Quintet, his Pianoforte Quartet, are works of great artistic value, As for his songs, it is incredible that all tenors should not sing 'Renouveau,' all contraltos "La Mer,' all mezzos 'Le Bucher' and Serenade melancofique,' all bärl tones Le Semeur."

In the March "Musik," Hermann Scherchen submits this work to a very careful and thorough examina- tion, and concludes:-

The new process is the invention of Harry Roynolds, mechanical en- gineer for Paramount, and senior Heutenant in the U.S. Naval Re- serve. It was developed to obtain a picture of an aeroplane in flames, in the filming of Paramount's colourful screen story of the serial side of the World War. The real- fam with which the deaired effect was secured coupled with its ex- treme simplicity, lack of cost and the complete safety of the device has attracted much attention on the part of the Air Corps.

The new Brynnhilde, Mme. Ohma, is sympathetic in some ways and has potentialities, but she is not a good singer. She took the bloom from the beauty of the music last night by her uncertain intonation, her- slurs and scooping, and a most disagreeable vibrato. She needs a different technique..
