Japan Sending Still More Troops To North China.
FENG FALLING BACK.
Hankow Troops To March Against Chiang?
Instead of Hankow being on its last legs there is talk of its troops marching to attack General Chiang Kai-shek. Meanwhile Japan is sending still more troops to North Chinn in view of possible
trouble there.
NORTH ADVANCES.
Reported Drive Into Honan Territory.
Hankow, July 5. The Fengtien (Northern troops) are reported to be advancing South of the Yellow river into Honan territory.
Feng Yu-hsiang has withdrawn from the Honan-Shansi. border and taken up position at Leyang. | The railway line between Chengehow (Feng's former head- quarters) and Loyang is reported to have been cut.
The telegraph line to Shanghai is interrupted,
Some of the troops concentrat ed at Hankow are apparently three divisions of Fengtien troops who turned over to the Wuhan party when Chengchow was first captured by the Hankow party.
An advance from Hankow down-river against Chiang Kai- shek and Hsao Tao-yin is rumour- ed.
Chiang To Be Attacked? The concentration of troops on the South Bank reported recently is apparently in connection with this reported new move.
The point of embarkation of the troops to be sent against the Nanking party is said to be Hwangchow. ifty miles east of Hankow, on the Yangtse.
Mr. Eugene Chen is leaving Hankow to-day for Kiukiang in connection with the hew system of concession administration.-Bri- tish Naval Wireless.
Shantung Wounded.
Shanghai, July 5. On July 3 a large number of Northern wounded soldiers were sent from the Shantung front to Tientsin.
Marshal Chang Tsung-chang sent his chief staff adviser, Li Yu- lin, to Peking to make a report.
The rumour that General Chang Hsueh-liang (Marshal Chang Tso-lin's son) intended visiting Shantung turns out to be false.
The "young general" intentis instead to visit Chinwangtao. "Hong Kong Evening Post."
JAPAN'S ANXIETY.
Still More Troops For North China,
Shanghai, July. 6. It is reported that the Japanese General Staff has ordered the Sth Brigade (consisting of approxi mately 4,000 men) from Dairen to Tsingtao where the garrison is at present 2,000, less 1,000 men who are proceeding to Tainanfu when the Railway is restored, which is expected immediately.
