The afternoon mode permits a wide, choice in both its semi-formal ard strictly tailleur aspects. Conta and ensembles are created to appeal strongly to the individual and at no time follow a straight and narrow path of what is "worn."
There is no set rule for what is seen in the afternoon coat, but generally afternoon coats are wrap- ped, with a straight silhouette or fulness above snug hips.. The straight silhouette is much evidence in youthfus models. The materials that go towards making the coats smart are not too heavy in weight and are soft and pliable. Velvets. broadcloth, velours de leine, velcuts leda, satin and moire are seen in equal proportions.
The bloused bodice and dolman cut are particularly favoured in the afternoon coat of formal inclina- tions.

Furs are used in some way to trim the winter coats. They are used in all sorts of interesting ways, through a collar, collar and cuffa, as edging, bands at the bottom or patches, vertically placed, side pockets, belts and other unusual applications.
All varieties of furs are seen in both short and long-haired pelts and in all natural and dyed tones, and are skilfully worked. Furs may be seen in only the simplest sort of
