Oil shares have been quiet and rather neglected. There is no great public demand, and the prices are affected by dear money.

Tobacco shares have been quietly steady, British American Tobacco closing £s. 153. 6d. The tone of this market generally is good.

Rubber Shares Market-The price of rubber having improved, the shares have all been marked up, although not many have changed hands.

Mining Marker-The little min ing market has been depressed, owing to the fall of tie and other metals, Kaffics, however, have been excited, and there has been some considerable improvement in such shares as Transvaal Estates and Developments, owing to the boom in any property on which platinum can possibly be found A good deal is going on in these platinum estates, and some certain- ly might go to much higher values, but on the other hand, the whole thing looks like a very dangerous speculation.
