"FAMILY PLAYING THE DEVIL.'
In the King'e Bench Division before Mr. Justico Avory and a special jury Mrs. Adelaide Margaret Constance Lubbock brought ah action for breach of promise of marriage against Mr.' Frank Greswolde-Williams.
Mr. Greswolde-Williams did not admit the promise, the breach was denied, and alternatively he pleaded that, the promise was. rescinded by mutual consent,
Sir Henry Maddocks, K.C., for Mrs. Lubbock, said Mrs. Lubbock was the granddaughter of an ear! and the cousin of a viscount, while Mr. Greswolde-Willards, whose name was known through- out Worcestershire he believed he was at one time Master of the Ledbury Hounds-was a man of very great wealth.
Mrs. Lubbock in 1914 was mar-. ried to Mr. Ralph Lubbock. She divorced him in March, 1922, Mr. Greswolde-Williams was a widower. His wife died' in August, 1923.
Both Mrs. Lubbock and Mr. Greswolde-Williams were fond of hunting, and became acquainted in that way in 1911, when her brother bought or became the tenant of Bredenbury Court, in Worcestershire, which was for- merly owned or was now owned by Mr. Greswolde-Williams.
