ANOTHER SPARCEL? AMMUNITION FOUND ON
SEAMAN...
THE CHINA MAIL.
In defending Wong Chu, a sea- man of the steam launch "Hato, Maru" on a charge of being in unlawful possession of 100 rounds of revolver ammunition, Mr. H. C. Lee, stated at the Kowloon Magis tracy that after all the evidence had been given by the Police he would reserve all his witnesses and defence. It was possible he would attempt to prove that there was another parcel in the case,
According to a Chinese detective, the accused was found in Shang- hai Street carrying a handerchief parcel in which was 100 rounds of ammunition in clips of ten, Before being cautioned at Yaumati Station, the accused said he was carrying the parcel for someone else who paid him one or two dollars a hundred rounds. He said he got the ammunition from the "kung si dl, which according to Mr. Lee's interpretation, may have meant a boy or steward aboard a ship.
Inspector Murphy in charge of the case for the Police, was asked by Mr. Lee to reconstruct the parcel into the form it wis found in possession of the accused.

Addressing the two coolies, Mr. Hamilton said they were lucky as the Police had not turned up. They would be discharged.
When a fine of $15 (or 14 days) was imposed on a Chinese for persistent hawker licence in- fringements, he told Mr. R. E. Lindsell that it made no difference to him as he had no money and was willing to go to jail în any case.
