ACCIDENT TO COMPETITOR,

Except for a regrettable-accident to one of the competitors, the first annual athletic sports of the Central British School were held with

entire success yesterday afternoon at the Kowloon Cricket Club's ground. The casualty was Master W. King, who, after winning the junior High Jump, fell during an exhibition per- formance and apparently dislo- eated his right elbow. First aid was rendered by the officials pending the sports

and arrival of Dr. Wong, he was later removed to hospital in the motor ambulance.

The events were keenly contes- ted and in connection with the prizes a new scheme was introduce ed. No prizes were given for second and third places and to encourage the children to strive for general efficiency, a new arrange- ment of awarding prize to first winners only was initiated which produced very satisfactory results. The boys competed in groups representing the Nathan, Lugard and May Houses, while the girls represented the Bede; St. George's and St. Dunstan's Houses.

who service to the team this season are

Major Gandy, who has the biggest aggregate in the division, and QM.S. Jacob, who tops the bow- ling averages with the second highest number of wickets al though he has only played in seven matches. Sergeant Cockell, who arrived towards the end of last season, has fallen off in recent matches, after doing well with both bat and ball, and Captain Chippendall has also strengthened the batting. Redpath's going home has meant a good deal although Jacob has more than made up for his absence from the attack. The batting, however, is not all that could be wished for. The tail has seldom "

wagged" when called upon for an effort, but there is one relieving feature which is the improvement shown in the last) three matches by C. S. M. Smith, S. S. Brown and Q. M. S. Ramsey.

As to their record in detail, one

finds that they have met all the other teams in the junior league at least once. The Chinese and Weness (H. M. S. Tamar); University juniors have twice been Wynne, Bishop; McKelvic beaten easily. On their own Stewart, Lelliot, Charlesworth, ground, the ladian 2nd XI lost by Eaton, Johnsan, Nash and Begg 47 rubs early in the season, and at Reserves: Casteldine, Wheeler Happy Valley the Indians had and Mair.

slightly the better of a draw: The team is booked to sail from Civil Service 2nd XI lost by 50 Hongkong on February 1st, by runs. Kowloon juniors gave the the ss. "President Lincoln." leaders a fright, getting them out for a small score but losing, in the end. by 37 runs, and the R. A. M. C. lost by a similar margin. The Club 2nd XI missed the points by only 32 runs and the Navy second team won by 22 runs. From this it will be seen that only the two weaker teams allowed. the Sappers to plic on runs with ease, whereas the other losers did fairly well against the leaders.

CLUB V. "TITANIA."

The following will represent the Club 1st XI in the first round of the Challenge Shield against H.M. S.

'Titania" on the club ground to morrow. Kick off 4 pm:-R. Hutchison, W. Gerrard, C. E. Bis- hop, A. Mair, J. Stewart, J. W. R. McPhail, G. Watson, AS. Forsyth, (Capt.) H. G. Howard, S. D. Begg and G. Angus.

At the end of the sports Lady Severn distributed the prizes at the club house. Before the presentation the Headmaster, Mr. GF Nightingale, said this was the first annual sports meeting of the Central British School.
