Tigers were res- ponsible for 1,603, leopards for 509, wolves for 450, crocodiles and alligators for 275, bears for 105, wild boars and pigs for 90, elephants for 55, and hyenas for uine, while the reortality from snakebite rose to 20,090 during the year. Twenty-three thousand two hundred and sixty-eight wild animals were destroyed, including 1,766 tigers, 6,108 leopards, 3,188 bears, and 1,929 wolves, while the snakes destroyed numbered 58,370. The sum of Rs. 185,000 was paid in rewards.
