ASSAULT CASE
DEFENDANT IN THE WRONG,
BOUND OVER.
The hearing was concluded before Mr. N. L. Smith at the Magistracy this morning of the case which Mr. Omar Ismail sued Mr. A. Gruns of the China and Japan Telephone .Company, for assault.
Mr. Leo, d'almada appeared for
the prosecution.
The complainant said he was a clerk of the International Bank and
lived near the race course.
He used
to take the tram car daily to go On the 26th home for his tiffin. a car at tiffin time, near the King
waiting. They missed two cars because of these youngsters "jam- ping on before the car stopped. The ladies complained to him about the unsatisfactory state of affairs, and going in advance, he jumped on the car. He admitted that he obstructed the complainant's access to the car until the ladies had boarded and occupied seats downstairs. He then went up stairs, followed by the complainant. He occupied the third single seat on the right of the car, and the complainant the first double seat on the left of the car. The
