graduates seem to be running high Political feeling amongst under- at Cambridge just now and we read that a climax was reached recently when a debate between the Cam- bridge Socialist Society and the Cambridge Independent Labour Party was due to be held: A large audience assembled at the Friends' Meeting House, including a good many ladies from Girton and Newn. ham, only three of whom, however,. stayed to the end. Just as the proceedings were about to begin a large crowd of, undergraduates and naval and military officers arrived upon the scene and took charge of affairs. Those who had been ané nounced as the chief speakers, scent- ing trouble, attempted to escape, but were not allowed to do so. Instead,... each was made to speak in turn of bia war record, which caused much amusement Even the presence of a Proctor and the police made no difference. Three of the speakers were then made to stand on a table and sing. "God Save the King, after which they were con- ducted to the riverside and, forcibly ducked in the Cam, rather risky proceeding considering the flooded state of

the river. The crowd then attempted to Wreck the shop run by The Cam bridge Magazine, and, despite the fact that the shutters, were up, a number of windows were broken, Recently two members of the Univer sity had their heads shaved, on the ground that they were Bolsheviks "". and now comes a memorial from over 80 member of one college, stating that it is a disgrace to their college that its name should appear on a cer tain pamphlet recently circulated, and declaring that no Socialist meet- ing will be allowed to be held in thein?? college.
