FINANCE MINISTER RESIGNS,

WOMEN SOLICITORS.
A Bill for the admission of women as solicitors is to be introduced this session in the House of Commons. The supporters of the measure are so confident it will pass, Major J.W, Hills, M.P., said to a representative of The Observer that a bureau has been established at which young wo men who wish to enter the profession can obtain advice on the steps to take.
The Bill introduced by Lord Buck- master has twice passed the House of Lords with hardly any opposition. and the only reason I have not intro- duced it in the Commons is that dur ing the war private members' Bills have not been allowed. We are now appealing to private members to give the Bill first place in their ballot. Already many have promised to do so, and all the answers are not yet . Altogether we have every reason to feel confident. The Prime Minis mons, the Lord Chancellor, the Attor ter, the leader of the House of Com- ney-General, and the Solicitor-General are all supporters.
Lord Buckmaster, who has been one of the best friends of the move ment intends, I believe, to take action in the House of Lords, The Labour party are introducing a Bill to remove The Finance Minister has resigned all sex disabilities, which would; of and departed to Tientsin, creating course, include the Bar as well as The Rev.
