HOUSE OF LORDS AND THE COMPULSION BILL.
LONDON, Jan. 26, Lord Lansdowne, when moving the second reading of the Compulsion Bill in the House of Lorde urged that "peedy victory was the greatest faster both in industry and Azance." In an address delivered before the Bociety of Arts, Mr Hutton, Chairman of the Cotton Growing Association, emphasised the enormous possibilities of India, and the value of the Lasistance reudared to the Raj by the Association by reporting on new types of cotton.
Dealing with the steps taken by the Association to meet the crisis at the the outbreak of the war he paid a tribute to the patriotism of the Banks in providing credits..for ball-a-milion sterling to enable the Association to finance various crops.
