A Potrograd communique states:--The Germans on Monday night and Tuesday made renewed desperate assault on the western fortifications at Korna The counter-attacks of the garrison wiped out three battalions caking n-hundred prisoners and a miaiber of machino guns. The German attack on the southern fortifications at Novo Georgievsk was repulsed.
The Germans continue a stubborn offensive in the direction of Oitro- lenta. Rozan and Pultask. The Russians, notwithstanding the heavy lowres of recent fighting have been reinforced and are resisting vigorously on the whole of the Hiver Bug line. Laat night's Parie communique reports that artillery actions north of Arras, and a bombardment in Arconne, redoubled with extensive employ ment of asphyxiating shalls, was followed at dawn by a most violent German uttack, beaded by "three regiments against positions between the Binarville Road, Vienne-le-Chateau and the Houyette ravine. The German's centre guc- ceeded in penatrating the positions, but were dislodged by counter-attacks in the course of the day, only retaining part of our first line. We took prisoners. Further east the enemy also attacked our trenches, but was completely repulsed.
