LONDON, Mar. 31, 4.30 p.m., The Glasgow steamer "Cliftoni Bridge," which has arrived at Liverpool, met a German submarine of Bishop's Rock. By clever maneuvring Capt. Fry, her commander, kept the fernan vessel astern, and prevented her discharging a torpelo, but she was shelled for an hour and a half. Shells smashed the bouts, tore away plates and wrecked state-rooms. The Germans failed to hit the bridge, and none of the; officers of the Clifton Bridge was lurb. Finally the submarine was obliged to give up the chase, the wind and sea being niirist it. Capt.; Fry's escape was a splendid perfortune, as his is a comparatively show vessel.
