PICTURISQUE GERMAN REPORT OF AUSTRO-HUNGARIAN
** SUCCESSES."
(Wolff's Telegraph Bureau
Official, Berlin, Sept. 14. Vienna, 14th September--The war enrrespondent of the Morgen senounces that, the fight at Lemberg has been broken off. Our troops have been wthdrawn, and assembled, in a fortified region which offers very fatoume conditions for the defence.
Our intention to defeat the Russian Army by a hold offensive has not been deferted by either faulty Generalship or the inferiority of our troops, but the heroist of our troops shattered itself against the enormous superiority in numbers of the enemy. It is certain that the Russians superiority amounts to many Divisions, und besides the Hussian Division is itself stronger than ours. Further, the Russians are very far advanced in their mobilization, which was begun long before the official commence- ent of the war. Finally, we have very nearly, the entire strength of the Russians against us. In remembering that, one can rightly estimate the performances of our troops. They have not only withstood the enemy in an almost continuous battle of three weeks' dumtion, but have taken -60,000 prisoners and 300 guns. But this partial success, great as it was, could not aring about the desired result, as the Russians were able to replace cach defeated Division by a new one. Higher strategical con- siderations now require the assembly of our troops in a position against which the Russian superiority must break itself in vain. We can there quietly await an attack. I repeat once more--Our troops are not beater
and do not feel beaton.
The Austro-Hungarian Army occupies a position which is so strong What it can defy any fee.

THE FIGHTING IN FRANCE AND BELGIUM.
Tospos, Nov. 30, 5 p.m.
To-day's Paris communique says:- The enemy remained on the defensive in Belgium, and their cannonade was weak. We progressed at some points.
We hold firmly points around Fay, which had been recently occupied, There has been an intermittent cannonade upon Soissons... We repulsed several attacks upon Bagatelle, in Argonne. A thick fog prevails on the heights of the Meuse..
The enemy bombarded the forest of Apremont without resulta. There is nothing to report in the Vosges,
