In the year 1381,—while Mary Queen of Scots was a prisonor in England, while James VI, was to all intents and purposes a prisoner in Scotland, only nios yra after the death of John Knox, -- the Town Clark of Dundeo, Àlexander Wedderburn, by aame, drew up a list of the Fresmen vy Burgesson of the Bargh. This civic log in one of the most cherished possessions of Dundee, it is preserved in the Charter Room of the Towo House, and is deriven its title of the Lockit Book" from the fashion in which it is strictly guarded.
