It is matter for regret that the only fight. should be for premier place. If there was regular shedding of the last club in the
First Division and a promotion of the bot
dab in the Second Division, there would
be greater intarest in the club meetings, to the benent of the game at large. But so long the poling of the League is based by those who put the West of Scotland before the rest of the country, the present unsatisfactory state of affairs will continue. If there are to be preferences between clube, the public at large would say that the Queen's Park is the only one to receive special favour when they have a slice of bad luck. They are our amateurs among the seniors; they have done a lot for the game la past years; and they deserve praise for the way in which they stand up to paid organisations. This year they are second from the botton; but it is to be? romera bored that they are not always at foll atrength; their men cannot afford to throw op business for play. A promotion rule, however, would benefit eves the Queen's. Ax for the professional clubs, their position in the Divisions should run on marit, and on merit alone. And there should be a yearly
interchange between the teams of the First
and Second Divisions,
