BUSINESS BRISK IN SINGAPORE.
For several days thers has been a big demand for goods, mostly amongst the Chineau doalers, and if our local merchants could maintain brisk business of this nature for some time, there would be no more grumbling about the rotten condition of the market.
The recent spart is, of course, largely due increased demand for stocks to replerish those disposed of by dealers prior to the Chinese New Year. The same ratio of demand can hardly be expected to be maintained, but as the demand has boon Romething above what is normal at this particular period, it may mess that the tide has turned la earnest. Thore had been indications of improvement for some weeks-Strails Times.
