A Peking dispatch to the Asahi" states that a number of the leading Chinese in Shantong have addressed a memorial to the Throne through the Board of Censura to the effect that the Germans are carrying on hasiness or working mines outside the leased units of Kinochau Bay, and that German and Japanese morchiants have warehouses in the interior and are making maps of different places under the pretence of travelling in the interior for reasons of health, &c. Whether the Company will go to the expense of a spur-line to the river and thus bring the station to the river-bank is an unsettled question, but just now it looks an if this will he left to the discretion of the directors after the line is in working order.
