*KENT DEFEATS HONGKONG CLUB, After a very interesting, fast game of hockey yesterday afternoon H. M. 8. Kent emerged victorious from a contest with the

Hongkong Hookoy Club by four goals to

two. The tengas were :-

H. M. S. KEST: Goal, Tarner; backs, Gardiner and Marriott; halves, Allen, Buckle and Bunton, forwarde, Dodgson, Cavendish, Moore, Lloyd and Jotham,

HONGKONG CLUB: Gas, File; backs, Murphy and McGillivray: halves, Gray, Oglo end Chater; forwarda, Wodekvase, Bailey, Master Bird and Satterthwaite,

Fairly even play characterised the open ing of the game, but the Kent team (play- ing in red) were the first to score. The forwards buru down on Fforde atud ho ran out to play the ball and mies-hit it, with the result that bioara had an easy shot, which he made no mistake about, sending the bill into gol (1-0), Almost im- modistaly afterwards Master had a fair eues and he bid at goal, but misted. His stick was broken shortly afterwarde and while he was getting a new one the Rode male a good run ap the right wing Irut Cavendish being offside stopped them, This gave the Clubs a chance and a long drive being missed by the Kent halves, Master and another chauce and this time In scored, bringing the ecores level. In piny again the Club continued to attack and in less that two minutes Satterthwaite drove the hall into goal, but was rajed off. side. The leds did not gain much and enco more Satterthwaite sent in a low shut and Beter, giving the Club the load. (2-1) The Club had an exciting couple of minutes in front of their own gosi, Moore. Jam and Dodgson showing out well, bat Ogle Gually cleared and sent to his forwards. The ball was soun returned by Buckle and Jotham, getting & pása, drove well and soured, making the ecures equal. Balf-time wounded almost immediately.

In the end spell the Kent team had the better of matters though on several co casions the Club all but poored. Shortly after the game was resumed Master had chance to score but in stopping the ball right in front of gual fr bounded into the air and he lifted ble stick shove his boad; a free bit was awarded to the Reds. Bailey and Chater showed up well in attack but they, were assuccessful in scoring. An off- side against the Reds stopped them when well within sight of goal, but the free hit being returned Cavendish scored for theas. (3-2), The ball was carried' into

the Red's territory after the bully-f and Bailey bad a good opening, but he
