two others making their escape. On the day these arrests were made, the sale of opium ut the Farm was largely increased. An Order in Council was issued prohibiting the export of upiam to the Malay Peninsula and Dutch iplands, and a reward of $10,000 was offered by the Government for the discovery and conviction of the chief leaders in the conspiracy... These prompt measures had a speedy effect, The spirit farmer applied for shares-in the new Opiva Farm, at the same time making over shares in the Spirit Farza to the opium farmer. One or two of the Chinese concerned turned informers, and there was soon sufficient evidence in the hands of the Government to take fur ther action against the offenders, which was sufficient to inspire fear and restore

ffairs to their normal condition.
